Global spotlight on women-led conservation in Brazil’s Cerrado

We’re proud to share that Instituto Pró-Onça was featured on Radio France Internationale (RFI), bringing international attention to our work in the Brazilian Cerrado.

In the interview, our founder Letícia Benavalli talks about how the project supports rural women to recognise themselves as leaders in conservation, strengthening their role in protecting biodiversity and their own territories.

The story highlights something we see every day in the field: women are already at the centre of conservation, caring for land, water and wildlife, but are still often excluded from decision-making spaces.

Our work focuses on changing that. We connect ecological restoration, wildlife monitoring and community engagement with real opportunities for women to lead and generate income in their territories.

This feature is another step in showing that conservation works best when it starts from the territory and when women are leading the way.
